Florida's CPM Program Adds 350 New Graduates

The Florida Certified Public Manager (CPM) program will be honoring 350 new graduates this summer. That will bring the total number of CPM graduates in Florida to approximately 6,260-- more than in any other state.

The CPM program is a nationally-recognized leadership development program, currently delivered in 38 states. The purpose is to develop more effective public managers, thereby improving services to all Florida taxpayers.

There will be three separate CPM graduation ceremonies this summer, each of which is the culmination of a three-day leadership conference.

  • July 19th in Tallahassee, with 181 graduates. The ceremony will be held in the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, starting at 1:15 P.M.
  • August 30th in Bartow, with 108 graduates. The ceremony will be held in the Bartow Civic Center, starting at 1:15 P.M.
  • September 14th in Naples, with 64 graduates. The ceremony will be held at the North Collier Regional Park, starting at 1:15 P.M.

Florida has one of the most successful CPM programs in the country. It is administered by the Florida Center for Public Management at The Florida State University, which is part of the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy.

These 353 new graduates have completed a rigorous two-year program, including 32 days of training, plus required projects and exams. Over 100 government agencies—including cities, counties, state, and constitutional offices— have participated in the Florida CPM program.
